Post Falls Flying Site

Description

Closing soon... This site will be developed by commercial operations soon. It is still open, but marker stakes are starting to show up.

The Post Falls site is our "old" flat land, thermal soaring site.  The field is mowed grass with a large flying area.  The nearby roads provide thermal convection sources.  .

Directions:

From Spokane take I-90 east and from Coeur d'Alene, take I-90 west to the Pleasant View Road exit, the same exit as the Factory Outlet Stores.  Turn south on Pleasant View road, Go through the traffic light at the Outlet Stores access road and take your first right (Lochsa Street.  Follow the Lochsa St as it curves to the south to the intersection with Clearwater Loop.  Turn left at Clearwater Loop and follow the road to the end of the paved road.  Pass through the end-of-road barriers and bear right.  The gravel road will take you down to the field.  The field is not marked, but if you're there to fly, chances are you'll locate the field by the presence of other flyers.

Hazards

Be careful to stay away form the residential area to the east and the Factory Outlet stores to the north.

Facilities

There are no facilities on the field.  Shopping and fast food are only a short hop away.  When the weather is cooperating, you can often find club members at the field and a winch set up.  Club member who have been checked out on the use of a winch can borrow a club winch from Curt Nead, who lives a stone's throw from the field.
